These days, dealing with rejection during your job search seems to be a given, especially if you’ve been on multiple job interviews that usually result in your being passed over for a job that went to someone else.
To effectively manage the roller coaster ride that your employment search has become, you need more than a good résumé and strong interview skills – you have to be able to bounce back from adversity and learn to be resilient. That way, you can accurately assess the situation, learn from it, and move forward. But, where do you go to learn how to bounce back from adversity after multiple let downs?
You can start by coming to the August 26th PSGCNJ general meeting where Karen Rubin, founder of Princeton Corporate Coaching, LLC, will deliver a presentation entitled Increasing Resilience to Support Your Job Search.
During the presentation, job seekers will learn to identify how their thinking impacts the way they interpret events and how to strengthen their problem-solving strategies. They will also learn the five essential skills to increasing their resilience, so they can view the world more accurately, become better problem solvers, manage their emotions, deal more effectively with setbacks, and conduct their job searches with confidence.
As a Career Coach, Karen Rubin specializes in working with professionals at all stages of their careers, including those who are re-entering the workforce after taking a break from employment. She also helps her clients: create distinctive résumés, learn how to ace interviews, develop networking techniques, use social media effectively, maintain confidence, and use certain strategies to stay motivated & become more resilient.
So, come, bring a friend, and listen to Rubin’s presentation, to be held Monday, August 26th, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church, located at 48 West High Street, Somerville. PSGCNJ meetings are always free and open to the public. To look for our upcoming events, please visit our website at www.psgcnj.org.
Please refrain from parking in the church parking lot. Metered parking is available on West High Street.
