Lately, trying to find good, affordable, health insurance in this country is giving some people a real headache. Especially with all the hoopla surrounding the computer glitches that occurred during last month’s rollout of the first federal healthcare website.

To learn more about how the law works, come to the November 18th PSGCNJ general meeting where Katherine Woodfield will be making a presentation entitled, Don’t Buy THAT Health Insurance: Become an Educated Health Care Consumer.

In a politically neutral presentation, Woodfield will explain details about the law, known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), a.k.a. Obamacare, including:

  • how the law works
  • details about its original intent , i.e., to lower medical costs
  • how consumers are protected by the law, and
  • how to choose the appropriate health plan from the options available

Calling upon her 20 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical field and her five years’ experience in the insurance industry, Woodfield wrote an award-winning book on healthcare, entitled: Don’t Buy THAT Health Insurance: Become an Educated Health Care Consumer. In her book, she translated complicated, technical, abstract terms so that readers could make informed decisions when it comes to purchasing health insurance for themselves and their families.

To learn more about how to select a health insurance plan come to the Monday, November 18th PSGCNJ general session, which will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church, located at 48 West High Street in Somerville.

Please refrain from parking in the church driveway or parking lot. Metered and unmetered parking is available on West High Street. Be sure to put enough coins in the meter, a parking fine in Somerville Borough costs $24. Unmetered parking is also available on several side streets near the church.

PSGCNJ meetings are always free and open to the public. If you can’t make this presentation, visit our website, www.psgcnj.org, for details about upcoming events.
