PSGCNJ member Brian Wood was named “Volunteer of the Year” at the annual International Association of Business Communicators, New Jersey Chapter (IABC NJ) Spring Networking event, held at the Basking Ridge Country Club, Basking Ridge, NJ, on May 15.
His commendation read as follows:
“Our chapter has benefited from Brian’s enthusiasm and expertise for years. As a former board member, he knows what it takes to keep the chapter going and to deliver meaningful programs and he always seems to be there just when he’s needed most. This year, however, Brian expanded his influence beyond his usual “behind the scenes” contributions by reaching out to former members with personal phone calls, emails, or both. He wanted to let them know about the special programs we had lined up so they wouldn’t miss out. But, more importantly, he wanted to let them know they’d been missed. And, with that, many of them came back.
“During his corporate communications career at Verizon Communications, Verizon Wireless and Bell Atlantic, Brian Wood developed and implemented internal and external communications programs that engaged audiences, built brand recognition and delivered business results.
“Currently, Brian offers consulting services in employee communications and engagement, copywriting and editing, media relations, C-suite executive communications, digital media and content management, and social media. He is also seeking new opportunities in the corporate world and non-profit arenas.
“Besides volunteering for the IABC of NJ, Brian is Co-President of the Brotherhood service organization at Temple Beth-El in Hillsborough, NJ; he also runs the synagogue’s Facebook page. Brian serves on the board of the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Somerset County, and organization dedicated to assisting the homeless, and he volunteers at the Parker Center for Healthy Aging in Highland Park, NJ.
“Thank you, Brian, for all that you do for the community and for our chapter!”
